Tavares Group Consulting is delighted to attend as a speaker at the upcoming Canadian Society of Safety Engineering (CSSE) 2015 Professional Development Conference in September. This year’s conference theme is “Powerful Partnerships – Sustainability and the Safety Profession” which recognizes Canada’s role as a worldwide leader in shaping the safety profession. Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) and environmental practitioners who attend will benefit from quality professional development that provides practical insight into emerging safety issues, and the tools and applications required to enhance the health and safety programs at their organizations. It is an educational and networking opportunity that is not to be missed!
“Last year, I had the pleasure of sitting next to a lady who had travelled from Nigeria to attend the PDC. I also had the good fortune to meet others from the United States as well as the United Kingdom. What this tells me is that the CSSE has something to offer that many others don’t – a level of professionalism and engagement that is second to none in the safety profession in Canada.” – Barry Fitzgerald, B.Tech., CRSP, CSSE member
Sandra Tavares, Principal, Tavares Group Consulting Inc. will be presenting with Wesley Gee, Director of Sustainability at The Works Design Communication Ltd. to discuss the drivers of sustainability and make the business case for safety sustainability, supporting OHS practitioners with the information needed to influence their senior management teams. During the presentation, attendees will also be introduced to the Safety Sustainability Strategic Action Plan that has been developed for CSSE members (see our earlier blog post from April 2015). The CSSE’s Safety Sustainability Strategic Action Plan was developed using the Sustainability Toolkit as its foundation, offering a systems approach to sustainability implementation. The presentation will demonstrate how to leverage, unify and align an organization’s existing safety plans and policies, programs and initiatives into an all-inclusive safety sustainability program.
Representatives from the Public Services Health & Safety Association, CannAmm Occupational Testing Services, Hydro Ottawa, CCOHS and Sleeman Breweries Ltd. will also be presenting. Make sure to follow Tavares Group Consulting and CSSE on Twitter as we live Tweet from the event!
