About Tavares Group | Community

Tavares Group Consulting Inc. is a proud supporter of the 2017 London Mandarin MS Walk. On May 7, we supported one of our team members who participated in the London walk to help raise money for research and services that help to improve the quality of life of Canadians affected by MS.

Canada has the highest rate of MS in the world. Each year, the MS walk brings 30,000+ people together in more than 125 Canadian communities to walk and fundraise to end Canada’s disease.

Tavares Group Consulting Inc. helps to celebrate heroes through their support of the brave individuals from Amway Canada Corporation who rappelled down One London Place for the 2015 Easter Seals Drop Zone. The event raised over $1.5 million dollars to help ensure that Canadians with disabilities have access to the life-changing equipment, technology, programs and services they need to enjoy life and to display their unique talents and abilities to the world.

Amway’s support for Easter Seals is part of the One-by-One program initiated by its parent company, Alticor, that focuses on global philanthropic efforts, through donations of time and funds, on the needs of children.

Tavares Group Consulting Inc. is a proud supporter of the 2014 JDRF Ride for Diabetes Research. The JDRF Ride campaign is a fast-paced and energetic event that brings corporate Canada together in a friendly competition. JDRF is making a positive difference in the lives of over 300,000 Canadian children, adolescents and adults living with type 1 diabetes. They are living longer with a higher quality of life, and lower risk of developing complications.

In 2013, Tavares Group Consulting Inc. elected to contribute to the global community by donating to Enviro-Stewards’ Safe Water Project , an initiative that provides water purification systems throughout several regions in Africa. The funds donated by TGC were used to assist in the purchase of a three-wheeled motorcycle to provide the Juba purification system construction site with a means to transport completed systems to other communities. The unique filtration system designed by Enviro-Stewards enables the local communities to maintain the system and profit from the safe water produced, while providing local communities with access to safe drinking water.

Tavares Group Consulting has supported the University of Western Ontario’s dynamic, interdisciplinary graduate programs in Environment & Sustainability since 2006, from reviewing the proposed program, to guest speaking and moderating the inaugural IDEAs  conference. The program uses project-based learning to enhance the graduate student’s skill set in preparation for a career in the environmental field. Students can pursue a collaborative thesis-based Masters or PhD degree program or a course-based Masters degree program in Environment and Sustainability (MES). TGC has also been supportive of student development from providing industry exposure and training opportunities to direct mentorship of MES students. Participation in such programs, demonstrates our dedication to the next generation of sustainability professionals. Annually, Sandra Tavares leads a Legislation and Certification Systems workshop for MES candidates, where the students hear guest speakers from a variety of organizations, and participate in facility tours, such as ones given to students at the Lake Huron Primary Water Supply System, Aisin Canada Inc., Firestone Textiles Company and others to see ISO 14001 in action.
