ISO 14001 Optimization

At Tavares Group Consulting Inc., our Environmental Management System (EMS) optimization services improve the efficiency of management systems. Our optimization services include the revision of existing policies and procedures to streamline processes of nonconformity, corrective and preventive action, environmental aspect identification, training, communication, emergency response, operational control, and document and records control. We eliminate duplication and redundancies within the management system providing our clients with an EMS (ISO 14001) that is manageable and efficient. Our projects at Wescast Industries, Emerson, and Bruce Power included procedural reviews to reduce redundancies, streamline processes, and ensure efficiency.

Bruce Power Independent Effectiveness Review

In the Winter of 2014, Tavares Group Consulting Inc. was engaged by Bruce Power to perform an independent effectiveness review (IER) of the organization’s corrective action program related to its EMS. The project included both on and off-site components. A formal review of the organization’s corrective action program was conducted, including the review of specific actions to confirm effective implementation, and newly implemented organizational initiatives. The IER allowed for the identification of recommendations to increase program efficiency and confirmed that the implementation of organizational initiatives had led to program improvements when compared to previous years.

Tavares Group Consulting Inc. has vast experience in management systems implementation, optimization, and internal / third party auditing. Additionally, our firm has been involved in the development of the 2004 and 2015 revisions of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System Standard through the Canadian Advisory Committee on Environmental Management, the body providing feedback to ISO in the standards development process.
